BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team was defeated this past weekend by visiting Tufts, in a 9-0 sweep at their first home match of the season.
Roger Williams started their singles competition, with Kevin Erikson (Tolland, Conn.) and Jeff DeNunzio (Barrington, R.I.) who both fell to opponents Andrew Lutz and Ben Barad with final score of 6-1, 6-2. The Hawks struggled through the rest of the matches, while Tufts racked up the score and swept the rest of the singles competition, winning 6-0.
Throughout the doubles competition, The Hawks attempted to recollect and fight back, but fell to the Jumbos again in a 3-0 sweep. Erikson and Taylor Webster (Bristol, Conn.) put up the best fight again Tuft's Lutz and Victoria, ending with a final score of 8-4.
The Hawks are now 0-1 and Tufts advances their record to 1-0. The Hawks will face Babson Wednesday the 5th, on their home court at 3:30 p.m.
