BRISTOL, R.I. – Coming off of solid 2009 campaign in which the team nearly put together a 30-win season, the Roger Williams University Softball team hopes to improve upon last season’s performance and come away with a Commonwealth Coast Conference championship.

BRISTOL, R.I. – For the ninth time in the last 10 seasons, the RWU Wrestling Team has finished with its cumulative GPA ranking among the top 25 in the nation, while junior Nick Cambi (Cohasset, Mass.) and sophomore Kevin Edward (Bayport, N.Y.) were selected as Academic All-Americans.

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Roger Williams University Women’s Cross Country has been named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team after compiling a cumulative 3.48 team GPA. For the Hawks, this is their sixth consecutive season achieving the honor.

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Roger Williams men’s lacrosse team edged host Nichols, 8-7, in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference game on Vendetti Field Thursday evening. The game marked the conference opener for both teams, and the season opener for the Hawks, who improve to 1-0 (1-0 TCCC). Nichols dips to 0-2 (0-1 TCCC).

DUDLEY, Mass. – Junior attacker Claire Halliday (Trenton, N.J.) recorded eight points on five goals and three assists to lead the Roger Williams women’s lacrosse team to a 17-2 The Commonwealth Coast Conference victory at Nichols College Thursday afternoon. It marked the season opener for the Hawks, while the Bison dip to 0-2 on the year.

BRISTOL, R.I.- Hawks Equestrian Team member Chelsea Weiner (Syosset, N.Y.) was named RWU Female Athlete of the Week after helping the team to a fifth place finish Saturday at the University of Connecticut Show.
Competing in the Intermediate Fences event, Weiner posted a first-place finish for the Hawks. The freshman also performed well in the Intermediate Flat, registering a third-place finish in the event. Her performance helped the Hawks to gather 25 points in the event, just 11 behind the day’s champions, UConn.
Weiner and the team return to action Saturday when they travel to Rehoboth, Mass., to compete in the Johnson & Wales University Show beginning at 9:30 a.m.

BRISTOL, R.I.- Hawks Equestrian Team member Scott Pearson (Locust Valley, N.Y.) was named RWU Male Athlete of the Week after helping the team to a fifth place finish Saturday at the University of Connecticut Show.
Competing in Open Fences, Novice Fences, and Novice Flat, Pearson finished as runner-up for the Hawks. The junior also did well in Open Flat, picking up a fifth place finish in the event. Pearson’s outstanding performance aided the Hawks in their fifth place finish at UConn.
Pearson and the team return to action Saturday when they travel to Rehoboth, Mass., to compete in the Johnson & Wales University Show beginning at 9:30 a.m.
