Bryant Knocks off Men’s Rugby

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Rugby team was defeated 48-0 by Bryant University over the weekend.  The match was a make-up from a previously postponed one, played at Bryant on artificial turf.

Both clubs wanted to keep it in the forwards for multiple phases.  RWU would send isolated ball carriers after the 1st phase which Bryant capitalized on.  Bryant did a better job of not allowing isolated attackers with ball in hand.  Bryant's backs held an edge and broke through the defense for long gains and presented scoring opportunities on five breakaways on missed tackles.  Scrums and line-outs were evenly matched.

Next up for the Rugby team is Stonehill College in Easton, Mass. for a 1:00 p.m. game on Saturday.
