CUMBERLAND, Maine – The Roger Williams University Women's Cross Country turned in a total team time of 2:04:16.9, an average time of 24:51.4, and placed 20th out of 47 teams at the Division III Regional Qualifiers hosted by the University of Southern Maine. The team compiled a total of 597 points, led by Liliana Rutler (Wyckoff, N.J.) who finished in 88th overall out of 315 participants.
Rutler set the pace for the Hawks with a time of 24:14.6, and was followed closely by teammate Emily Tran (Sharon, Mass.) who placed 98th with a time of 24:28.7. Keeping up with the pack was Susan Thaxter (Pepperell, Mass.) who placed 123rd with a final time of 24:59.1. The fourth RWU runner to cross the line was Kaitlin Crowley (Beverly, Mass.) who had a time of 25:06.5 which put her in 132nd overall. The final contributor to the overall team score was Alyssa Donovan (Bridgewater, Mass.) with a time of 25:28.0, in 156th overall. Also racing were Lauren Ashby (Manchester, N.H.) and Samantha Buechner (Nashua, N.H.) who finished in 162nd and 220th respectively, with times of 25:42.7 and 26:51.3.
This marks the culmination of the 2009 Women's Cross Country Season. The team captured its unprecedented 10th consecutive TCCC title, and hopes to have as much success when they get back out on the course next season.
