Men’s Track & Field finishes 11th at Jerry Gravel

WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Roger Williams University Men's Track & Field team pulled off an 11th place finish out of 16 teams this past weekend in the Jerry Gravel Classic, hosted by Westfield State College.

 

Freshman Emil Pornelis (Hartford, Vt.) finished 11th in both the Shot Put and the Discus, throwing for 12.32 meters and 36.62 meters in his respective events. He also competed in the Hammer throw, finishing eighth with a distance of 39.17 meters.

 

Finishing second in the 3000-meter Steeplechase was junior Thomas Maybury (East Longmeadow, Mass.) with a time of 10:19.20.

 

In the Pole Vault, freshman Jack Traub (New Hartford, Conn) cleared a height of 3.59 meters, taking fifth place in the event.

 

Austin Bobrow (Rocky Hill, Conn.) had an exceptional meet, finishing sixth in the Triple Jump, sailing a distance of 12.70 meters, and 12th in the Long Jump at 5.78 meters.

 

Co-captain junior Jonathan Ellis (Yonkers. N.Y.) had an impressive run in the 1500-meter, finishing 24th out of 52 competitors with a time of 4:16.73. Fellow co-captain Jamie Goodwick (Newton. Conn.) also ran remarkably, finishing 20th of 54 in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.17.

 

The Hawks look to get back into action on April 3rd, at the Coast Guard Academy Spring Invitational.
