BRISTOL, R.I. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference announced its 2010 All-TCCC Men's Lacrosse Team today including five RWU Hawks. Junior Drew Smith (Blue Point, N.Y.) garnered First Team honors; Logan Roebuck (Montgomery, N.Y.) and Rian Kearney (Duxbury, Mass.) made the All-TCCC Second Team, while Glenn Pacitti (Mastic, N.Y.) and Tyler Roebuck (Montgomery, N.Y.) earned Honorable Mention.
Smith, a junior tri-captain for the Hawks this season, leads the team with 42 goals and ranks second in the TCCC with 2.8 goals-per-game. His 51 points also leads the team and ranks fifth overall in the conference. He's fired a team-leading 69 shots-on-goal and ranks seventh on the team with 30 ground balls.
Making the All-TCCC Second Team were junior Logan Roebuck and senior Rian Kearney. Playing at the midfield position, Roebuck ranks second on RWU with 29 goals, 37 points and 42 shots-on-goal. He is also tied for the team lead with three game-winning goals this season, a feat just five other TCCC players have accomplished this season.
Kearney earned 2008 All-TCCC Honorable Mention at defense for the Hawks, while taking second team honors this season as a long-stick midfielder. The senior has contributed on both sides of the field for RWU, notching a goal and an assist, while causing nine turnovers and picking up a team second-best 56 ground balls.
Taking his second-straight All-TCCC Honorable Mention honor is senior Glenn Pacitti, whose defense helped RWU to the second-best goals-against average in the conference at 8.33. He picked up 54 ground balls in 14 games, ranking third on team.
Tyler Roebuck earns Honorable Mention honors having posted an 8.88 goals-against average in 15 starts, allowing 120 goals in 810:52 between the pipes. He also registered 138 saves on 330 shots for a .535 save percentage.
Voting for the All-TCCC team was conducted among the TCCC men's lacrosse coaches. Western New England College and Endicott College tied for the most members on the prestigious teams with eight each, while RWU, Salve Regina and Gordon all tied for third with five.
The RWU Hawks completed the TCCC Regular season 9-6 overall and 7-3 in the conference – good for a fourth-place finish. The team hosts fifth-seeded Salve Regina Saturday at 12:00 p.m.; a team the Hawks defeated 17-11, April 7th.
