Worcester, MA- The Roger Williams University wrestling team had another impressive day at WPI in Worcester, MA. The Hawks defeated Trinity College 37-11, Wesleyan University 27-15 and host WPI 39-9. Sophomore, Justin Cochran (Paramus, N.J.) also broke the single season pin record with his 18th and 19th pins.

Alec Golner (Tyngsborough, MA) started it off for the hawks with a decision over John Davis of Trinity in the weight class of 165. Peter Hillburn (Roselle Park, N.J.) would go on to win his weight class at 174 as well as Adam Patsun (Somers, CT) in 197 and senior captain, Dan Roger (Londonderry, N.H.) in 133. The Hawks would win 37-11.

The hawks would then face off against Wesleyan University. Alec Golner (Tyngsborough, MA) got the first win for the hawks again at 165 over Keonmin Hwang. Senior captain, Dan Ressler (Hillsdale, N.J.) had a decision over Taran Carr in 174 as well as Connor Humphries (East Longmeadow, MA) in 184 over Dominic Pirranglia. The hawks would take the victory over the cardinals 27-15.

The hawks final match was against, host, WPI. Joseph Russo  and Chris Cornwell (East Greenville, PA) both came out with a win in weight class 184 followed by a win from Tom Sewell (East Northport, N.Y.) in 141. Sophomore, Carter Merecki (Cambridge, N.Y.) would finish it up for the hawks with a decision over Ryan Rigney.

The hawks take the mats again for the New England Duals hosted by Worcester State in Bridgewater State on 1/23/16 at 10am.
