Women’s Lacrosse grabs 9 All-CCC players and 3 major awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team had nine players selected to the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference team, in addition to collecting three of the conference's major awards.
 
Junior McKenna Everding (Fayetteville, N.Y.) has been selected as CCC Offensive Player of the Year, while freshman Emily Stoeppel (Brookfield, Conn.) was chosen as CCC Rookie of the Year. Head Coach Lisa Vogeley was recognized as CCC Coach of the Year.
 
Everding and Stoeppel each made the All-CCC First Team, in addition to Kaelin Hogan (Bethel, Conn.), Caitlin Shanahan (Forest Hill, Md.), and Kimberly Bolk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.). On the All-CCC Second Team are Paige Byrne (Clifton Park, N.Y.), Caitlin Murphy (Londonderry, N.H.), and Elizabeth Cahn (Baltimore, Md.). Serena Murphy (Brewster, N.Y.) was chosen as an All-CCC Third Team selection.
 
Coach Vogeley led the Hawks to an 8-0 (13-3 overall) in her third season at the helm, marking the first time Roger Williams finished with undefeated in CCC play. Under Vogeley, the Hawks led the CCC in goals/game (13.19) and goals against average (6.99). They also finished the regular season ranked No. 9 in New England according to the NCAA Regional Rankings.
 
Everding was one of the nation's best scorer's this year as she ranked in the top-25 in goals scored. Her 70 goals this season also placed her at the top of the CCC leaderboard. The junior attacker did her damage when it mattered most as she led her team with five game-winners. She scored six or more goals four times and added 12 assists this season to bring her point total to 82. Additionally, Everding had a 79.8 percent shots-on-goal percentage.
 
Stoeppel was a key contributor in the Hawks' midfield as she put together strong numbers on both the offensive and defensive ends. She scored 26 goals and dished out 24 assists earning her the third spot in both categories for her team. Her 50-point total was the second-best mark on the team. Defensively she recovered 39 ground balls and caused 15 turnovers. She also led the team with 39 draw controls.
 
Hogan, last season's conference rookie of the year, picked up where she left off. She currently leads the team and is second in the conference in points with 92 and assists with 36. Her 56 goals scored are second-best on the Hawks and fifth-best in the CCC. In addition, her 34 draw controls place her second on the team while leading RWU with 20 caused turnovers.
 
Shanahan has been a stout defender for Roger Williams throughout the season. In her 13 games started and played, the junior defender is third on the team with 31 ground balls. In addition, she has also totaled 12 caused turnovers and tallied three draw controls on the year, tying a career high.
 
Bolk has turned in another stellar season in net as the Hawks sole goalkeeper. She sits at the top of the conference in goals-allowed average, giving up only 6.99 goals per game. She also ranks first in the CCC in wins (13) and winning percentage (.813). She has made 112 saves for the Hawks, second-best in the conference and has played all 961:16 minutes on the year for RWU, also the second-best mark in the CCC.
 
Byrne has been a versatile player for the Hawks in her first season on the Women's Lacrosse team. She has started in 15 of the Hawks' 16 games on the year. Offensively, she has scored 12 points on six goals and six assists. She has also grabbed 27 ground balls and earned 26 draw controls, third-most on RWU. Defensively she has totaled 11 caused turnovers.
 
Murphy has been a solid veteran presence for the Hawks as the sole senior on the squad. Having started all 16 games for Roger Williams this year, she is fifth on the team with 12 goals scored and sixth with 17 points. In addition to her scoring, she has added 22 ground balls, 20 draw controls, and four caused turnovers.
 
Cahn has been another stalwart defender for Roger Williams on the season. She has started all 16 games on the year in the defensive third for the Hawks. On the year, she is second on the team with 19 caused turnovers, which also puts her 11th in the CCC. She has also contributed 21 ground balls and six draw controls for RWU.
