BRISTOL, R.I. – Roger Williams University has named Freshman Goalkeeper Kristen Darling (Weymouth, Mass.) of the Women’s Soccer team the Female Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance last week.

In the Hawks first game of the week, Darling held visiting Brandeis scoreless in 110 minutes of play as the two teams battled to a draw after playing 90 minutes of regulation and two ten minute overtime periods.  Darling had six saves in her first career shutout, including one in the 11th minute that would have broken the tie had she not made a spectacular save on the play.

In the Hawks next contest against Anna Maria, Darling split time with the other two goaltenders and helped in another shutout for the team.  Darling put in 26 minutes in the game, making a total of 136 minutes without being scored upon.

Darling and the RWU Women’s Soccer Team will next be playing on Wednesday in Newport, R.I. as they take on conference rival Salve Regina University at 4:00 p.m.
