BRISTOL, R.I. – Women’s Volleyball Tri-Captain Kristina Dolan (Glenmont, N.Y.) was named RWU Female Athlete of the Week after outstanding back-to-back games last week, including the recording of her 1,000th career kill.

In the Hawks’ first match of the week, The Commonwealth Coast Conference rival UNE visited only to be upended 3-0. Dolan posted a match-high 13 kills in the victory with number 13 serving as her 1,000th career kill. Only Erin Carolan ’06 and Amy Maurer ’08 have also eclipsed the 1,000-mark in the 28-year history of RWU volleyball. Dolan posted her 13 kills on just 18 swings and recorded just one error. She also chipped in a match-high three blocks in the winning effort.

On Saturday the team hosted top-ranked Colby-Sawyer in a battle for the top spot in the TCCC. Dolan again led all players in hitting percentage, hitting .367. She registered 14 kills and just three errors on 30 swings. She also notched four blocks that afternoon before RWU fell just short in the end, dropping the fifth set, 15-12.

Dolan looks to continue her strong play Tuesday when she and the team travel to Gordon College for a 7 p.m. TCCC contest.
