BRISTOL, R.I.- Junior Jill Hurd (Sunapee, N.H.) was named RWU Female Athlete of the Week after her outstanding play in The Commonwealth Coast Conference Playoffs lifted the Hawks to their first championship in 11 years and their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

Hurd began the week needing just eight digs to help RWU sweep its first-round opponent, the University of New England. In a 3-0 sweep over Endicott in the TCCC semifinals, Hurd tallied 14 digs before posting a program-record 41 digs in RWU’s 3-1 victory over Western New England College in Saturday’s Championship match. Over the entire TCCC Tournament, Hurd averaged 6.3 digs per set.
