BRISTOL, R.I.- Distance swimmer Brigid Houlihan (Nahant, Mass.) has been chosen Roger Williams Female Athlete of the Week after her clutch performance at the UMass Dartmouth dual meet on November 14.  Houlihan won both the 1000 Freestyle (11:49) and 500 Freestyle (5:51) while coming in second in the 200 Individual Medley (2:32).

"She has shown lot of improvement since last season" said Assistant Swimming Coach Michelle Kellerman.  "She's really stepped up her game."

Houlihan recorded her best time this season in the 500 Free at the home opener against Bryant, when she swam in 5:47.  The distance specialist will add the mile to her list of events at the TCCC Invitational and at the New England Championship.   

"We expect her to have a great season and continue to improve" said Kellerman.

Houlihan will compete again with the rest of the Hawks swimming and diving team at the home meet against Bridgewater State on Saturday, December 1 at 1 p.m.
