BRISTOL RI—Roger Williams University women’s swimming and diving team member #Melly Marrington #(Farmington, CT) was named RWU Female Athlete of the Week after her impressive contributions to the team’s wins against Gordon College and Eastern Connecticut State University this past week.

In Tuesday’s meet against Gordon College, Marrington helped her relay team take second place in the 200-yd medley relay.  Later on, she led all swimmers in the 100-yd backstroke with a time of 1:09.39.

Yet Marrington’s best performance of the week came on Saturday when the Hawks took on the Warriors of Eastern Connecticut State University.  With a time of 26.69, she won the 50-yd freestyle, securing 9 points towards the win.  Marrington also tied for first place in 50-yd butterfly, finishing in just 28.84 seconds.  She also secured 3^rd place in the 100-yd freestyle and assisted the team in taking 2^nd in the 200-yd medley relay.

These two wins boosted the women’s swimming and diving team to a 5-3 record and helped to extend its four-meet win streak.  Next up for Marrington and hawks is a meet at Trinity College on Saturday February 6^th.
