BRISTOL, RI — Roger Williams University wrestling freshman #Philip Ernst# (Succasunna, N.J.) was named RWU Male Athlete of the Week for his 2-0 individual record in the NEWA-Metro Conference Challenge Duals this past weekend.

Ernst helped the Hawks to a 2-1 record on the day, including victories over Hunter College and New York University. By a score of 4-1, Ernst first beat RJ Klotz of Hunter College, who stands tied as the sixth-ranked wrestler in the Metrowest Conference. Against NYU’s Sabino Galassi- also tied for sixth in the Metro - Ernst again took the victory, this time by a larger marginal score of 7-2. Ernst currently ranks second in the NEWA Conference.at 184.

These personal victories boost Ernst’s individual record to an impressive 23-11, while the Hawks as a whole jump to 12-6 overall.  The RWU Wrestling team hits the mat next on Saturday, February 6th, as they travel to the University of Southern Maine for an 11 a.m. Pilgrim League tri-meet along with Rhode Island College.
