BRISTOL, R.I. – Sailing teammates #Bjarki Gunnarsson# (River Vale, N.J.) and #Tyler Wilson# (Woodville, Mass.) were named RWU Male Athletes of the Week after performing well together this past weekend in the Bob Bavier Team Race in Charleston, S.C. The pair helped the Hawks to a fifth place finish, including numerous wins over top-20 nationally ranked teams.

Ten strong teams were on hand for the event, including #4 St. Mary’s and #6 Charleston, but the Hawks performed well, led by skipper Gunnarsson and Wilson serving as crew. The team, in just its second week of the spring season, finished the regatta in the top half after posting a final record of 13-10 on the weekend.

This marks the first RWU Male Athlete of the Week awards for both Gunnarsson, a senior, and Wilson, a sophomore. The two and their Hawk teammates return to action this weekend with events in Maryland, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
