BRISTOL, R.I. – RWU senior Rebekah Dion (Old Saybrook, Conn.) has been named the RWU Female Athlete of the Week after scoring 3.8 kills per set, while making just two attacking errors on 64 swings last week to help the Hawks Volleyball Team improve to 10-2 this season.
Dion and the Hawks entered this week on the road facing a strong Connecticut College team, splitting the first two sets before falling in four. Dion led the Hawks with 11 kills and just one error on 24 swings. Her .417 hitting percentage led RWU, which finished the match at .125.
Later in the week, Dion continued her strong play in two conference matches against Eastern Nazarene and Wentworth Institute of Technology. Combined, Dion notched three blocks, 23 kills and just one error, hitting .448 and .818 respectively.
Dion finished the week with a .500 hitting efficiency, while registering a kill on 53% of her attempts.
Dion and the Hawks next host Bridgewater State University Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Recreation Center Main Gymnasium.
