Bristol, R.I.- Freshman women’s basketball player Caitlin McNabb (Springfield, Mass.) was named Roger Williams University Female Athlete of the Week following her outstanding play in the Hawks’ three contests last week.
McNabb averaged 9.7 points during the week, including double-digit point totals in both Tuesday’s contest against Rhode Island College and Saturday’s game against Nichols College.
In the team’s first game of the week, Tuesday, McNabb went 5-for-7 from the field and added four rebounds, four blocks and two steals in 19 minutes of play. Despite her strong effort, RWU fell, 68-62.
Against Salve Regina Thursday night, McNabb registered nine points and pulled down seven rebounds in the Hawks’ 60-52 non-conference loss. She also contributed one block and one steal on the night.
McNabb finished the week with 3-for-4 shooting from the field and 4-for-6 shooting from the line Saturday against Nichols College. She also tallied four blocks and seven rebounds in 20 minutes of play.
McNabb finished the week with .647 shooting and an average of six rebounds per game. She also totaled nine blocked shots and four steals.
McNabb and the Hawks look to break a three-game losing streak with their next contest, Tuesday, in Springfield, Mass., where they meet conference opponent Western New England College. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
