BRISTOL, R.I. – RWU Senior Bekah Dion (Old Saybrook,Conn.) has been named the RWU Female Athlete of the Week for her play throughout the week. On Saturday, she surpassed the 1,000 career kill mark, a feat only three previous players have ever accomplished during the RWU Volleyball program’s 29-year history.
In Wednesday’s match against 2009 TCCC Runner-up Western New England College, Dion posted impressive stats in multiple categories. She earned a double-double on the night with 11 kills and 12 digs, also adding two blocks and one service ace.
Dion recorded a.393 attack percentage, including 13 kills, in Saturday’s match against Babson and during the day’s second game against #7 New England ranked Coast Guard Academy, Dion’s 11 kills moved her into Hawks’ history with 1,007 total career kills.
With Dion’s strong offensive contribution, the RWU women’s volleyball team improves to 22-4 overall (7-0 TCCC). On Tuesday October 19th, the Hawks host Lasell College at 7:00 p.m.
