BRISTOL, R.I. - Sophomore Kelsey Twarog (Barkhamsted, Conn.) was named TCCC Volleyball Player of the Week and RWU Female Athlete of the Week after her strong performance last week in helping the Hawks to three-straight 3-0 victories en route to the team’s second-straight championship.

Twarog led all players with 14 kills in the championship match Saturday against Endicott College. In Thursday’s semifinal match against the University of New England, she again led all players with 14 kills. She also posted a match-high .367 hitting percentage, recording just three errors on 30 attempts.

Twarog’s strong week began Tuesday as she totaled eight kills - just one shy of the game high - in the team’s victory over Regis College. She ranks second on the Hawks this season with 250 kills and 2.84 kills-per-set.

Twarog and the team advance into the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight year, where they will face the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Friday, at NYU.
