BRISTOL, R.I. – Senior Corey Fava (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) was named The Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week and RWU Male Athlete of the Week after averaging 18.5 points and 5.5 assists to help lead the Men’s Basketball team to a perfect 2-0 record.

Wednesday night the Hawks hosted Rhode Island College in a non-conference contest needing overtime to decide the victor. Fava totaled a career-high 24 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range. He also added seven assists in the 90-80 win over 2010 NCAA Sweet 16 participant.

RWU opened up TCCC play Saturday at Nichols College where Fava posted 13 points, four assists and three rebounds in the 62-57 triumph. Over the two games, Fava shot 75% from the field (9-of-12) and 81% from the line (13-of-16).

Fava and the Hawks are next in action Tuesday when they host Western New England College at 8 p.m.
