BRISTOL, R.I. –Sophomore Michael Monson (Southington, Conn.) earned RWU Male Athlete of the Week after posting a perfect 2-0 record for the RWU Wrestling team last week.

The Hawks travelled to Hartford, Conn., to face both the Trinity Bantams and the Wesleyan Cardinals on Sunday of last week where Monson earned two victories.

Monson began with a 5-1 win in the 165 bout against senior Ben Speicher (Boston, Mass.) helping to lead RWU to a 22-16 win over the host Bantams. Monson also posted a victory in the 165 match against junior Tom Oddo (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) from Wesleyan, although the Cardinals proved too strong, winning 26-12 in the end.

The Hawks return to the mat Sunday at the New England Division III Dual Meet Championships hosted by Bridgewater State University beginning at 10 a.m.
