BRISTOL, R.I. – Sophomore Alexandria Lanieri (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) earned RWU Female Athlete of the Week after leading the Women’s Basketball team to a 2-0 record last week, helping to secure a berth into The Commonwealth Coast Conference postseason.

The week began Wednesday night when Lanieri and the Hawks hosted Curry College in the Recreation Center main gymnasium. Lanieri dominated the game, posting a double-double with 12 points on 50% shooting from the field while grabbing 11 rebounds. She also contributed four assists and four blocked shots in the 61-48 conference win.

Saturday the team met Eastern Nazarene College in the final regular season game for both teams. Lanieri fell just shy of a second double-double, as she posted 14 points and gathered nine rebounds. She also recorded a team-high three steals to help the Hawks to the 75-61 victory.

The two wins secured the seven-seed for RWU entering the TCCC Tournament. The Hawks travel to Colby-Sawyer College Tuesday for their first-round contest beginning at 7 p.m.
