BRISTOL, R.I.—Senior wrestler Nick Cambi (Cohasset, Mass.) received the RWU Male Athlete of the Week title Monday after finishing third in the New England Wrestling Association Championships this past weekend and earning a wildcard selection to compete in the 2011 NCAA Division III National Championships.

Entering the tournament, Cambi was the top-ranked wrestler in the 285 weight class.  On Saturday, he posted a perfect 3-0 record, including one win-by-fall. As the competition continued the following day, Cambi was upset 4-2 during the second sudden victory period in his first match versus Tom Foote of Williams University.  He then dropped his next match in the second tiebreaker period 4-2 against Springfield’s Ron Fusco, earning Cambi a third place finish.

Based upon his outstanding season leading up to the NEWA Championships, Cambi was one of four chosen as a wildcard selection to compete in Wisconsin for a national title.  He has been ranked as high as 6^th in the nation during his senior season and has posted a remarkable 30-3 record, including his 100^th career win.

Cambi, along with the top wrestlers from across the nation, will travel to the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse from March 10-12 to vie for the title of 2011 NCAA Division III National Champion.
