Roger Williams University Athletics

Junior Alec Anderson (Tortola, BVI) and senior Kelly Stannard (Salem, Conn.) of the Roger Williams University Sailing team have been named Roger Williams Male and Female Athletes of the Week.

The duo played a significant role in the Hawks' first-place finish at the Moody Trophy Regatta held this past weekend at the University of Rhode Island. Anderson and Stannard earned 45 points in A Division, complementing the 54 points earned at B Division. The Hawks earned a total of 99 points, which solidified their overall win by four points. Tufts University, Yale University, and Connecticut College came close to the first place finish, but Anderson and Standard's impressive performance allowed Roger Williams to remain on top.

Out of nine races, Anderson and Standard placed in the top three in six of those races dominating their competition which included 18 other teams in the event. For Anderson, this is his first win at A Division.
