BRISTOL, R.I. – Roger Williams University senior defensive specialist Marilu Gonzalez-Yanez (Los Angeles, Calif.) was named RWU Female Athlete of the Week for November 14, 2011.

Gonzalez-Yanez lead the team in both aces and digs in the Hawks' match against Tufts this past Friday at the NCAA Championship held at Springfield College. Leading the team with a total of 23 digs and 4 aces throughout all 5 sets, Gonzalez-Yanez helped the team’s fight to move onto the next level of the NCAA's. Although the Hawks fell short of victory, the senior captain played one of the finest matches of her career.
