Roger Williams University freshman Meghan Maliga (Suffield, Conn.) tossed a career-high 10 strikeouts, gave up only one run, and walked none in the Hawks 9-1 conference win over Nichols. Earlier in the week, Maliga pitched seven complete innings, allowed no earned runs and scattered six hits in a 6-3 victory over Salve Regina. In a 10-0 win over Gordon, she tossed six innings and only allowed four hits. In three starts last week, Maliga was 3-0 with a 0.39 ERA in 18 innings pitched. She allowed one earned run on 14 hits and five walks, while striking out 19. Maliga also earned Pitcher of the Week Honors for the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
