BRISTOL, R.I.- Freshman Claire Halliday (Trenton, N.J.) was named Roger Williams University Female Athlete of the Week after her outstanding play in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Women’s Lacrosse Championship. Halliday established a new record for most points in a game with 11, Thursday, against Worcester State.

Thursday’s quarterfinal game featured a match-up between second-seeded RWU and seventh-seeded Worcester State. Halliday scored six goals and added five assists to set the new record. She contributed two goals and three assists on the game’s first five goals. She’d tally two more by the end of the half and two more in the second half to reach six.

The team’s 17-2 win propelled the Hawks into the ECAC Semifinals, Saturday, where they met Western New England College. Halliday finished the game tied as the Hawks leading goal scorer with two markers. A determined Western New England team however would not allow a Hawks’ three-peat over them this season, eventually winning this contest, 13-7.

The freshman also set the Hawks new single-season points-scoring record with 73 and a single-season goal-scoring record with 50.
