BRISTOL, R.I.- Roger Williams University freshman Katie Fusaro (Hopkinton, Mass.) was named RWU Female Athlete of the Week after her stellar play throughout last week. The forward notched nine points in leading the Hawks to a perfect 3-0 week.
Fusaro scored the first goal in each of the Hawks’ three games; each of those tallied also served as the game-winning goal in each game. Against Anna Maria College she tallied two goals for her second multi-goal performance already this season. The team cruised to a 7-0 win.
In the team’s next game, Saturday, Fusaro notched a goal and an assist in helping the Hawks to the 3-0 conference road win over Nichols College. The very next day, hosting TCCC rival Colby-Sawyer College, the freshman scored the game’s lone goal, lifting RWU to the 1-0 win and moving the team into second place in the 14-team conference.
The successful week stretched Fusaro’s point-scoring streak to five games and she currently leads RWU in goals (9), assists (3), points (21) and game-winning goals (6).
She and the Hawks look to continue their winning ways Tuesday, when they host TCCC neighbor Salve Regina University. Game time is 4 p.m.
