BRISTOL, R.I.- Senior volleyball captain Kirsten Bosworth (Centerville, Mass.) was named RWU Female Athlete of the Week after her outstanding play last week, including reaching the milestone of 3,000 career assists.
Bosworth and the Hawks began the week with an important conference road victory over Salve Regina University. Bosworth notched a season-high 43 assists in the four-set win.
Hosting the University of Massachusetts-Boston Thursday, Bosworth recorded 27 assists and added six kills, leading the team to a .231 hitting percentage in the three-set loss.
In Saturday’s Rhode Island Championship Tournament, Bosworth registered back-to-back matches with 33 assists, including number 3,000 in her career. She is the only player in the 27-year history of the RWU volleyball program to record over 3,000 assists.
In the team’s final match of the week, Bosworth guided the offense to a season-best .328 hitting percentage with 22 assists in a 3-0 win, again over Salve Regina.
Bosworth currently ranks third in The Commonwealth Coast Conference with 7.33 assists per game, helping the team to a fourth-place ranking with a .173 hitting percentage.
Bosworth and the Hawks return to action Wednesday, travelling to Gordon College for a pivotal TCCC match-up.
