BRISTOL, R.I.- Junior Jen Garside (Londonderry, N.H.) was named RWU Female Athlete of the Week after backstopping the women’s soccer team to two shutout victories last week.
On Monday the team traveled to Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., where Garside was tested throughout the evenly played contest, recording seven saves along the way to the 1-0 win.
Saturday, Garside and the Hawks hosted Western New England College in the opening round of The Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament. Garside once again held her opponents scoreless, helping the team to the 1-0 double-overtime victory.
Garside now stands with 12 shutouts on the season and leads the nation with a .184 goals-against average in 1,470 minutes played. She also ranks first nationally in both shutout percentage (.889) and save percentage (.957).
The team is seeking its third-straight trip to the TCCC Finals, Saturday, Nov. 8, looking to win its first ever TCCC title.
