BRISTOL, R.I.- Junior basketball player Heather Babin (Danvers, Mass.) has been selected RWU Female Athlete of the Week for her standout performance in the Hawks' 80-64 victory over Connecticut College this past Saturday.
Babin was the Hawks' leading scorer in the win, totaling 19 points on seven of 13 shooting and a five of seven performance from the line. She also contributed seven rebounds, three of which came off the offensive glass, and two blocks.
Babin is averaging 10.5 points per game, the most of any Hawk this season. She is also averaging 6.9 rebounds per game, which is the second-highest figure on the team.
Head Coach Tracey Hathaway-James commended Babin for her confident and unselfish performance on Saturday: "She made sacrifices and really played hard for the team."
Hathaway-James termed Babin's play her "best all-around game" of the season.
Babin and the Hawks will compete again on Tuesday, January 8, in a home contest against Rhode Island College at 7:00 p.m.
