BRISTOL, R.I.- Sophomore Amanda Magee (Columbus, N.J.) was named The Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week and RWU Female Athlete of the Week Monday after helping the women’s lacrosse team post back-to-back wins last week, securing a second-place finish in the TCCC final regular season standings.
Magee stopped 55% of her opponents’ shots on goal and allowed just 10 goals in two games last week. Against Nichols, Tuesday, Magee allowed a season-low two goals in the Hawks’ 16-2 win.
In Friday’s contest, RWU traveled to Gordon College for the teams’ regular season finales. The two teams, tied with a conference record of 7-2, battled for the higher seed in the upcoming playoffs.
Magee registered eight saves in 60 minutes of play, allowing just three goals in the second half, to backstop her team to the 9-8 victory.
Magee finishes the regular season with an 11-3 record overall, a 7.07 goals-against average and a .558 save percentage. This marks Magee's first RWU Female Athlete of the Week Award this year and her third TCCC Defensive Player of the Week Award.
