Ewing, NJ - Junior Andy Lacroix earned NCAA All-American honors when he posted a 5-1 record at 141 pounds and finished in third place, leading the Hawks to 20th place in the NCAA Division III National Championships March 2-4 at The College of New Jersey in Ewing.
Lacroix was unseeded in the event and defeated the #4, #5 and #8 seeds along the way. His only loss was to the top seed and eventual champion, three-time National Champion Dustin Hinschberger of Wartburg College. He was the top finisher among the 13 New England qualifiers. Sophomore Anthony Nicolicchia and freshman Zack Weinrich both lost in the “All-American,” round, falling one win shy of earning All-American honors.
The Hawks finished as the highest New England team in the event that featured qualifiers from 60 schools from throughout the nation. The finish is the second-highest in school history behind the 2003 team which finished 19th.
