Hawks earn perfect 10-0 TCCC record in win over Regis

BRISTOL, R.I.- The Roger Williams Women's Tennis team completed their regular season schedule today in style, earning their eleventh straight win and perfecting their conference record at 10-0 with a 9-0 victory over Regis College.  The Hawks have clinched the number one seed going into the conference postseason tournament, and will host a quarterfinal matchup this Tuesday against an opponent to be determined.

Leading the day off with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles were Caitlyn Leone (Irvington, N.Y.) and Jessica Manners (East Longmeadow, Mass.).  The duo defeated Jevon Biffinger and Ka-Leen Hardison to finish the regular season with a very respectable 10-2 mark at No. 1 doubles. 

At the No. 2 spot, senior Kelsey Parente (Barkhamsted, Conn.) teamed with Haley McCraven (Ipswich, Mass.) for an 8-1 win over Zinnia Zheng and Prima Lai.  Parente and McCraven have now gone 12-0 in doubles action, with all matches in the No. 2 position.  Rounding out doubles play were senior Katie Wilmes (Milton, Mass.) and freshman Lily Osowski (Byfield, Mass.) who earned an 8-0 victory over Natalie Finn and Amy Tanguay.

In singles play, Leone defeateed Biffinger 6-2, 6-2 in a hard fought match at No. 1 singles.  Leone is now 9-3 in singles play, and 2-1 at the No. 1 spot.  Freshman Leah Ribchinsky (Ivoryton, Conn.) moved up to the No. 2 slot and picked up a win over Hardison, 6-2, 6-0.  Both Nettelfield, playing at the No. 3 spot, and Parente, playing No. 4 singles, improved their individual records to 10-1 in singles play. Nettelfield defeated Zheng 6-0, 6-0 and Parente notched the win over Lai 6-0, 6-0. 

Getting the chance to gain more experience at starting singles was freshman Megan Harrington (Leicester, Mass.), who won over Finn in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.  Harrington is now 4-0 in singles play this fall.  Finishing up singles play for the Hawks was Wilmes, who also earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory, defeating Tanguay.
