Box Score
NEWPORT, R.I. – Two second half goals proved to be the difference for the Roger Williams University Women's Soccer team, as the Hawks defeated Salve Regina University Thursday afternoon by the score 2-0. The Hawks have not allowed a goal since September 29.
After a scoreless first half for both teams,
Kristen O'Gorman (Tyngsboro, Mass.) ended the deadlock, putting a
Carey Baldwin (West Hartford, Conn.) pass in the net in the 49
th minute for her third goal of the year. The 1-0 score held up until the 65
th minute, when
Julie Moody (Plymouth, Mass.) stretched the Hawk lead to two with her first goal of the season. RWU kept the Seahawk offense in check in the half, holding them to only one shot in the period en route to the win.
Jen Garside (Londonderry, N.H.) and
Jenny Schermerhorn (Sherborn, Mass.) played the first and second half, respectively, with each player making one save in the game. The alternating goalkeeper play has clearly worked out in the Hawks' favor over the past four games, as neither Garside nor Schermerhorn have allowed a single goal over that stretch.
Salve Regina's Katie Vaudrain (Pawtucket, R.I.) played all 90 minutes in net, stopping eight shots in the game
Roger Williams (12-3-1, 9-3-1 TCCC) will hold its Senior Day game Saturday during the University's Homecoming festivities on Saturday. The Hawks will take on New England College at 3:30 p.m.
