Box Score BOSTON, Mass.- The Roger Williams Women's Volleyball team came out the victor, 3-1 in a hard fought battle on the road against Little East Conference member UMass-Boston. With the win, the Hawks have won three straight matches and improve to 16-10, while the Beacons drop to 13-11.
The Hawks won the first two games, 30-25 and 31-29, respectively, before dropping the third game 14-30. Roger Williams would bounce back to finish the Beacons in the deciding fourth game, 30-27.
Sophomore Kristina Dolan (Glenmont, N.Y.) led the Hawks offensively, tallying eleven kills. Freshman teammate Rebekah Dion (Old Saybrook, Conn.) added nine kills on 21 attempts. Junior Kirsten Bosworth (Centerville, Mass.) was the leader with 31 assists, and also had six kills. On defense, freshman Eileen O'Leary (Southington, Conn.) totaled 14 digs, the most of any Hawk for the night.
"We did a great job offensively, minimizing errors" said Head Coach Bret Stothart. "Defensively, we dug balls and made plays when we needed them at the end of a couple tight games."
The Hawks are on the road again this weekend, playing Wesleyan University and the Coast Guard Academy at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, Saturday in New London. Next Tuesday they return home and will honor their three seniors in their last regular season home contest beginning at 7:00 p.m. against Pine Manor College.
