Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – A pair of goals in each half proved to be all the scoring that the Roger Williams University Women's Soccer team would need, en route to its 4-1 win Saturday afternoon over New England College.
Fittingly on Senior Day, the first two Hawk goals were scored by seniors, as
Mary daCunha (Wethersfield, Conn.) notched her third goal of the year in the 13
th minute, while
Caitlin Mayo (Merrimack, N.H.) added her seventh score three minutes after.
The Pilgrims fought back with a goal of their own in the 26th minute, when an attempted cross by Chelsea Bennett (New Glasgow, N.H.) bounced off the goalpost and into the net, breaking the Hawks' streak of six consecutive shutouts.
RWU's slim lead stretched out over the course of the second half, as
Kristen O'Gorman (Tyngsboro, Mass.) scored her fourth goal in the opening minute of the period.
Amanda daCunha (Wethersfield, Conn.) would also add to the Hawk advantage, knocking a high shot into the left corner in the 73
rd minute for her eighth goal.
New England's Kerry Hughes (Wallkill, N.Y.) stopped three shots for the Pilgrims, while Amy Searle (Sandwich, Mass.) assisted on Bennett's score.
Roger Williams (13-3-1, 10-2-1 TCCC) hosts Brandeis University Tuesday afternoon in its final home game of the regular season.
