BIDDEFORD, Maine- Led by the junior duo of Kevin Clark (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and Alex Parulis (East Lyme, Conn.) the Roger Williams Men's Cross Country Team claimed their seventh consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference title in wet and muddy conditions at the TCCC Championships hosted by the University of New England at Rotary Park.
Clark crossed the 8,000 meter mark first in a time of 27:14, earning him the title of TCCC Runner of the Year for the second consecutive time. Parulis clocked in at 27:57 for second, again a repeat performance of his runner-up finish to Clark in 2006. Junior Thomas Maybury (East Longmeadow, Mass.) finished fourth in a time of 28:12.
Joining Clark, Parulis and Maybury in the Top Ten, as well as the All-TCCC Team was freshman Jonathan Ellis (Yonkers, N.Y.) who clocked in at 29:08 for tenth place. Rounding out the point scorers for the Hawks was freshman David Freiman (Sea Cliff, N.Y.) with a time of 29:32, good for 13th place.
"Our men ran very well" said Head Coach Sean Livingston, who was named Co-Coach of the Year. "The young guys realy came through to solidify the win" he added.
The Hawks totaled 30 points to claim their team title, well ahead of Gordon, which placed second with 44 points, and UNE in third with 65.
The Hawks now look ahead to the New England NCAA Division III Regional Championship at Connecticut College on November 10.
