Maurer named to all-tourney team

Two wins for Volleyball at Springfield Invite

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.The Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball team closed out the Springfield College Tom Hay Invitational with two wins in three matches en route to a 3-1 record in the tournament.
 
The Hawks took a loss in their first match, falling to Plymouth State University 30-19, 30-22, 30-17. RWU would then run off wins against its next two opponents, with a 31-29, 30-27, 27-30, 30-25 victory over conference-rival Western New England College. The Hawks then defeated Randolph College in straight sets, 30-16, 30-22, 30-27.
 
Amy Maurer (Madbury, N.H.) totaled 32 kills in all three matches and was the Hawks' representative on the all-tournament team. Maurer now extends her career kills total to 1,056, best in school history.
 
Kirsten Bosworth (Centerville, Mass.) handed our 72 assists on the day, while Eileen O'Leary (Southington, Conn.) had 42 digs.
 
Roger Williams (12-8) heads up to Boston Thursday evening for a7:00 p.m. match against Suffolk University.
