Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – A hot three-point shooting performance by Connecticut College gave the Roger Williams University Men's Basketball team its first loss of the young season Tuesday evening, as the Hawks fell by a 63-52 margin.
The Camels put on an impressive display shooting from behind the arc, going 12-of-19 from three-point range in the game, including a 67% clip in the first half on 8-of-12 shooting.
Despite Connecticut's first-half shooting surge, the Hawks kept the game close, tying the game five times and never trailing by more than seven. By shooting 11-of-20 from the field and holding the Camels without a foul shot in the period, RWU was able to close out the half only down by five.
In the second half, both teams cooled off from the perimeter, with the Camels shooting only 39% in the period, with the Hawks at a 32% clip. As a result, RWU could not mount the comeback, as five would be as close as the Hawks would come for the remainder of the game.
Dan Gumb (Patterson, N.Y.) led the Hawks with 12 points in the game, with
Tucker Bashaw (Williston, Vt.) adding 10.
Geoff Baranger (Fairfield, Conn.) chipped in with seven points and six rebounds, while
Ryan McGinn (Plattsburg, N.Y.) scored eight and grabbed five boards.
Connecticut's Charles Stone (Hackensack, N.J.) finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists. Jeff Young (East Hartford, Conn.) led all scorers with 19 including five three pointers.
