Box Score WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – A rough shooting night kept the Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team from a win, as the Hawks fell to Eastern Connecticut State University Thursday evening by 45-64 margin.
The Hawks struggled from the field, being held to only 24% shooting on the night. The game started off in favor of Eastern Connecticut State, jumping out to a 13-2 run to begin the game. By the end of the first half, the Hawks trailed by 19.
In the second half, RWU held the Warriors to 36% shooting while matching their 28-point output in the period. Despite the effort, the first-half deficit proved to be too much for the Hawks to overcome.
“They're a tough team, but we stuck with them defensively throughout the game” Head Coach Tracey Hathaway-James said. “People contributed off of the bench, so we can definitely take away some positive things from the game.”
Casey Anderson (Cohasset, Mass.) finished the game with 10 points and four rebounds.
Heather Babin (Danvers, Mass.) added eight points and seven boards, while
Carly Spagnola (Millbrook, N.Y.) contributed four assists and seven rebounds off the bench.
Eastern Connecticut State's Ashely McFetridge (Canton, Conn.) scored a game-high 19 with 12 boards.
Roger Williams (1-2) plays its first home game of the season Saturday afternoon, hosting Mount Holyoke College at 1:00 p.m.
