Box Score BEVERLY, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Soccer team's run to The Commonwealth Coast Conference championship ended in the title game, as the Hawks lost a hard-fought match to Endicott College by the score 1-0 in overtime.
The Hawks found themselves on the defensive throughout a majority of the game, with Endicott holding a 20-2 shot differential. However, RWU's defense played in stellar fashion, despite being outshot by the Gulls.
Jen Garside (Londonderry, N.H.) performed equally impressive in goal, making eight saves for the Hawks in the game, managing to keep Endicott scoreless through 90 minutes of regulation.
The turning point of the game came 5:48 into the overtime period, when Ashley Clark (E. Kinston, N.H.) played a pass from Paula McGinn (Lynn, Mass.) inside the box and sent a shot inside the right corner for the game-winner. Clark's goal gave Endicott its sixth consecutive TCCC championship.
Endicott's Amy Meuse (Saugus, Mass.) made one save for her 14th win of the season.
Roger Williams University will now wait to see if the team has been selected to participate in the ECAC Championship beginning Wednesday, November 7. The selection date will be Monday, November 5.
