BRISTOL, R.I. – With a late goal in the closing seconds of the game, the Roger Williams University Women's Soccer team edged Curry College in the First Round of the ECAC Division III New England Women's Soccer Tournament by a 2-1 score.

Mary daCunha (Wethersfield, Conn.) headed in the game-winner with 11 seconds to go in the game, knocking in a Caitlin Mayo (Merrimack, N.H.)free kick to give the Hawks the late lead en route to the win.

RWU earned the free kick when Amanda daCunha (Wetherfield, Conn.) was taken down just outside of the box, looking to score for the Hawks.

Curry took a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute when Brooke DeLuca (Duxbury, Mass.) knocked in her 13th goal of the year after collecting a Mandy Hibbard (Chelmsford, Mass.) shot that had ricocheted off of the post. The Colonels' advantage held until the opening minutes of the second half. Kristen O'Gorman (Tyngsboro, Mass.) made an impressive shot from inside the right side of the box to knot the game at one.

The Hawks dodged a bullet in the 59th minute when a Curry header was negated on account of an offside call. The shot just found the net and would have given the Colonels a 2-1 lead. Instead, the score remained tied until Mary daCunha's last-minute heroics put the Hawks up for good.

Jen Garside (Londonderry, N.H.) picked up her ninth win of the year, stopping six shots on the day, while Danielle Denham (Framinham, Mass.) made four saves for Curry.
