Sophomore Chris Andersen won three individual events and swam on two winning relay teams

Men's swimming & diving dominates TCCC Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I.- Winning eleven of nineteen events, including all four relays, and taking second in eight more, the Roger Williams men's swimming and diving team dominated the competition at the TCCC Invitational held on Saturday at the Roger Williams Aquatic Center.  The Hawks took first with a combined team score of 806.5 points, well ahead of second place Colby-Sawyer College (433) and third place Gordon College (177.5).

Sophomore Chris Andersen (Shapleigh, Maine) had several stellar performances for the Hawks, winning the 200 individual medley (2:13.12), the 200 breast (2:23.67) and the 100 breast (1:03.61).  He was also a part of the winning 200 medley (1:45.87) and 400 medley (3:59.49) relay teams.  Joining Andersen on the 200 medley team were freshman Dale Dubinsky (Plantsville, Conn.), junior Andrew Hedden (Warwick, R.I.), and senior John Curtis (Watertown, Conn.).  Swimming the 400 medley relay were Andersen, Dubinsky, Hedden, and senior Jonathan Plummer (Biddeford, Maine)

The Hawks also won the 400 freestyle relay (3:28.82) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:34.28).  Plummer, Dubinsky, Curtis, and senior Doug Cameron (Bristol, Conn.) each swam legs of the 400 freestyle relay.  Freshman Michael Nappi (Sherman, Conn.) teamed with junior Michael Faustine (Old Lyme, Conn.), Curtis, and freshman James Crowther (Wallingford, Conn.) to win the 400 relay.

Dubinsky and Cameron were also an individual winners for the Hawks, with Dubinsky claiming first in the 200 back with a time of 2:13.72 and Cameron earning the win in the 500 free (5:14.93).  Sophomore Jonathan Galuska (Longmeadow, Mass.) took first in the 200 fly (2:20.25), and teammate Joseph Mello (Seekonk, Mass.) won the 3 meter diving event with a score of 317.25.

The TCCC Invitational was the final event on the fall semester slate for Roger Williams.  The Hawks will compete again in 2008 when they travel to Colby-Sawyer for a dual meet on January 8.
