Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team fell to Western New England College Tuesday evening by a 38-53 score, keeping the Hawks winless in TCCC play.
The Hawks were hindered by a subpar shooting performance, as the team shot a season-low 23% from the field, including being held scoreless over the final eight minutes and twenty seconds.
RWU built an early lead, as a pair of
Caitlin McNabb (Springfield, Mass.) free throws put the Hawks up by a 9-4 margin six minutes into the game. The Golden Bears came back, taking a 14-13 lead on a three-pointer by Tiffany DeRosa (Hamden, Conn.) with 7:43 to play in the half. At that point, Western New England ran off a 16-9 run to take a 30-22 advantage into the break.
The Hawks were able to pull within five in the second half, but could not come closer. The offense stalled, as a
Heather Babin (Danvers, Mass.) layup with just under eight and a half minutes to play wound up as the Hawks's final score of the game.
Casey Anderson (Cohasset, Mass.) finished with a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds. Criss had six points with five boards.
Western New England's Jen Dabrowski (Plainville, Conn.) scored a game-high 22 points with seven boards, while DeRosa added 12.
Roger Williams (4-8, 0-2 TCCC) will go on the road to take on the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Thursday at 7:00 p.m., while Western New England (6-6, 2-0 TCCC) hosts Elms College Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
