Jennifer Youngquist dishes out 10 assists in win

Three straight for Women's Basketball

Box Score
BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team got its third consecutive win and second Commonwealth Coast Conference win of the year, beating Gordon College 63-48 Wednesday evening.

The Hawks played an uptempo game, quickly pushing the ball up the floor, resulting in 16 fastbreak points. Also helping the cause was RWU's penchant for making the extra pass to find the open shot, with 22 assists on 27 field goals in the game.

Gordon took an early lead, opening with a jumper by Erin Thames (River Vale, N.J.). The Fighting Scots never trailed in the first four minutes, but a layup by Jackie Criss (Westwood, Mass.) began a 12-2 run to put the Hawks up 17-8.

Gordon pulled within four with 8:23 to play, but an 18-7 Hawk run built the lead up to 15, with RWU going into the second half up 37-22. The double-digit held over the remainder of the game, as the Fighting Scots could not pull closer than 13.

Jennifer Youngquist (Sandwich, Mass.) was a major contributor in the Hawk offense, setting a season-high with ten assists. Criss led RWU with 16 points, while Casey Anderson (Cohasset, Mass.) and Kate Malenczak (Sayville, N.Y.) each added 12 points.

Thames's 20 points led the Fighting Scots, while Rebecca Carroll contributed eight points and eight rebounds.

Roger Williams (7-8, 2-2 TCCC) takes on New England College Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Gordon (4-12, 3-1 TCCC) faces Curry College Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
