Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – Trinity College overcame an 11-point halftime deficit to defeat the Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team, as the Hawks fell to the Bantams 57-64 Tuesday evening in non-conference action.
Trinity trailed by as many as 12 in the game, down 38-26 in the opening minute of the second half. The Bantams spent the first half of the second period chipping away at the lead, taking a 47-45 lead at the 9:38 mark on Jessica Sims' (Peabody, Mass.) only jumper of the game.
Trinity's advantage stretched to seven with under four minutes to play, but the Hawks forced three consecutive turnovers and scored on each ensuing possession. With a three-pointer by
Kate Malenczak (Sayville, N.Y.) in the corner, Roger Williams made it a 57-58 game with 2:02 left to play. That would be as close as the Hawks would get, as the Bantams closed the game on a 6-0 run to hold on to the lead and the win.
Casey Anderson (Cohasset, Mass.) finished with a double-double, scoring 11 points with 11 rebounds, while
Caitlin McNabb (Springfield, Mass.) nearly had one of her own with nine points and a game-high 12 boards.
Jackie Criss (Westwood, Mass.) led all scorers with 20 points.
Sims grabbed a team-high ten rebounds for Trinity along with her seven points. Devon Kearns (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Kristen Liska (Falmouth, Mass.) each scored in double figures wit h11 and 12 respectively. Claire Arnstein (Hicksville, N.Y.) finished with nine points and eight assists.
Roger Williams (8-9) returns to TCCC play Thursday when the Hawks head to Endicott for an 8:00 p.m. matchup with the Gulls, while Trinity (9-7) takes on Bowdoin Friday at 7:00 p.m. for a road NESCAC meeting.
