Men's Soccer puts up nine goals in win

BRISTOL, R.I.The Roger Williams University Men's Soccer set a season high in goals scored in a 9-0 win over Regis College Wednesday afternoon.

 

Five different players scored for Roger Williams, with three players tallying multiple scores.

The nine goals in the game were the most since RWU scored six goals in a 6-1 win over St. Joseph's College in the season opener.

 

Nate Boucher (Burlington, Conn.) assisted on all three first-half goals for the Hawks. The first score came in the 13th minute, when Archie Maoh (Monrovia, Liberia) one-timed Boucher's pass into the back of the net. Jeffrey Taranto (Bristol, R.I.) was the recipient of the following pair of Boucher assists, scoring in the 40th and 43rd minutes.

 

In the second half, the Hawk offense doubled their output from the first period, including three goals from Justin Levasseur (Colchester, Conn.) for his first career hat trick.

 

For the Pride, Andrew LaMacchia (Lynn, Mass.) kept busy throughout the game, making 14 saves on the Hawks' 42 shots. Ricky Guyette (Medway, Mass.) and Josh Fidalgo (Boston, Mass.) had the only shots for Regis in the game.

 

Peter Plate (Commack, N.Y.) earned the win, playing the first 45 minutes of the game with Alexander Johnson (Monrovia, Liberia) relieving him in the second half.

 

Roger Williams (9-4-2, 8-1-2 TCCC) hosts New England College Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. game during Homecoming Weekend, while Regis (0-16-0, 0-10-0 TCCC) hosts Eastern Nazarene Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
