Women's Basketball earns win on Senior Night

BRISTOL, R.I. – In the final home game of the regular season, the Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team moved to .500 in the conference, as the Hawks defeated Anna Maria College 90-61 Tuesday evening.
 
On a night where RWU honored its two senior players, Taylor Shea (Salem, Mass.) and Caitlyn Leone (Irvington, N.Y.), the duo saw the most action in a game this season, with Leone playing 21 minutes, and Shea playing 28 minutes in her first start this year. Leone finished with 10 points, four steals and three assists, while Shea scored four with six rebounds, and two assists.
 
The AmCats scored first on an opening layup by Maggie Sielawa (Webster, Mass.), but the Hawks soon took over. RWU ran off 10 of the next 12 points in the game to go up by a 10-4 margin. Anna Maria pulled within three at the 7:41 mark, but were not able to pull closer over the remainder of the game. The Hawks took a 44-25 lead into the half and never looked back.
 
Four players scored in double figures for RWU, including Heather Babin (Danvers, Mass.) who finished with 14 points and 12 boards for her first double-double of the year. Casey Anderson (Cohasset, Mass.) and Jennifer Youngquist (Sandwich, Mass.) each scored 18 for the Hawks.
 
Anna Maria's Julianna Eagles (Quincy, Mass.) finished with a game-high 28 points to go along with her seven boards and six assists. Sielawa scored 16 while grabbing eight rebounds.
 
Roger Williams (10-12, 5-5 TCCC) will head up to Regis for a noon game on Saturday, while Anna Maria (1-21, 0-10 TCCC) will be on the road at the University of New England Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
