Men's Hoops extends win streak to five

WESTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Basketball team used its hot shooting to streak towards its fifth win in a row, as the Hawks defeated Regis College Saturday afternoon by a 73-56 margin.

The Hawks shot .577 from the field, their second highest shooting performance on the year. Senior big man Geoff Baranger (Fairfield, Conn.) poured in a game-high 26 points while hitting a season-high 12 shots.

The Pride jumped out to an early 5-0 lead on buckets by Mike Barlie and Jimmy Irmiter, but nine straight Hawk points quickly erased Regis' advantage. RWU took its largest lead of the half at the 9:55 mark, going up 17-6 on a jumper by Ryan McGinn (Plattsburg, N.Y.)

After taking a 33-22 lead into the break, the Hawks opened the period on a 19-10 run. RWU cruised in the half, never allowing the Pride to come closer than 11.


Three other Hawks scored in double figures along with Baranger. Tucker Bashaw (Williston, Vt.) chipped in with 13, while Dan Gumb (Patterson, N.Y.) added 11 and Billy Barrett (Fairfield, Conn.) scored 10.


Barlie led the Pride in scoring with 15, while Bryan Little added 13 off the bench. Phil Alibrandi finished with nine points and nine rebounds.


Roger Williams (14-9, 10-1 TCCC) will head to Curry College Wednesday for an 8:00 p.m. matchup, while Regis (8-15, 2-9 TCCC) hosts Nichols at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
